    hi all, just gotten a 1.5ft 5plan plastic tank and intending to go into a little planted. i'm currently using a small hang on filter. was thinking of changing to canister but duno wad canister to change to. can someone advised? lightings, as i'm not going into high tech, just normal lighting will do good but is there any 1.5ft light?

    go for ehiem 2211 or 2213. yes 1.5ft T5 light you can get from NA. they do sell 1.5FT lighting.

    Just get a hang on filter. Seaview aquarium has 2 or 3 brands that come with surface skimmers at affordable prices. Just add something like Bio-Home for bacteria, stuff the intake well with sponge and you're good to go.

    If for some reason you don't like the hang on, then you can get an external one, decom the hang on and make it a backup filter.

    HOF for 1.5ft tank should be more than enough.
    Till you get a bigger tank, by then you may want to consider a canister.
    Just my thoughts.

    guys, i got a eden 501 canister filter and it's running now.wad type of plants is suitable for low tech no CO2 tank? will be housing tetras and some shrmips.

    you can try nanas and java moss if you like the look.

    nanas are basically indestrucible and slow growing. be careful with some of the other mosses though, they will only survive long term in a fan-cooled or chilled tank.

    looks like a mixture of GEX Shrimp and plant and black gravel.
