i am sure the air con technology may be similar, but doesn't the air con condensor sound just as loud?

Is there any new technology for chiller instead of the current one. My Teco, Hailea, Resun are all very noisy.
My new tank location is unfortunately near a west facing, full height windows which means day temperature of the water can get to around 35 degree (on a bad day).
Wanted to know if I there are chiller technology (like aircon compressor) that I can use for a 12ft tank ?

sorry, did i see wrongly? a 12 feet tank? i guess you need 2 aircon compressor to cool it

Air con compressor is not that loud. But the Mitsubishi Starmex I am currently using switch on for around 25 minute on my 4ft tank so noise is not an issue for me and mine is inside the house, just beside the tank, in an hdb flat. My previous Resun CL650 was way hotter and noisier than the current aircon compressor.
Joeyttk, you could place the compressor outside of your home and run the copper line as how a normal aircon line is run?

wow 12ft tank, I can even swim inside. The most low noise is using TEM (peltier) cooler but then is way to small for your 12ft tank.
12Ft!!
Certainly wish to see a pic of that tank..
Run the copper line to the sump BUT since copper cannot be in contact with the tank water, the coil section of the copper that is submerged must be wrapped in a rubber coating OR the coil section of copper line can be replaced with titanium coil which would be inert in contact with the tank water and would not cause any reaction.

There are picture of rubber coated copper coil and titanium coil in this thread.

How many TECOs, Resuns and Haileas are you running on your tank man??
Dedicated compressors that are externally mounted is almost always the only option for tanks larger than 6ft. Running small chillers in series or parallel is sure to be killer on the power bills.
You would need at least a 20,000 - 40,000 BTU compressor for a 12ft tank.
Fantastic advise and link
my tank today is not planted nor marine. Just normal aro with fish. However, it has good sunlight and I am thinking of planted tank (though algea control may be an issue)
Do you know if I have an existing compressor that is connected to a dedicated casket aircon, can I use that same compressor and connect the coil ? this is to minimize the renovation required.
true browhich is why I am looking at tapping my existing aircon condensor to do the trick
Can't answer that for you. Contact the company on the link that I've provided.

40000 btu cooling (in 1hr) is equivalent to 11.76kwh.
at current electrical tariff of $0.2287, the bill is $2.68 per hour.
however, actual running cost will be lower as the compressor will not be running all the time. it depends on the heat gain of the tank and its surroundings.
