hi all. im considering to buy a peltier type chiller to cool my 1 1/2 ft tank. my fan is not doing the job in keeping the tank to 28C anymore...

What i wish to know is that would it be worth my money to invest in one of these chillers? and which model is best for the job. if not, are there any suitable mini compressor chillers? i dont need the tank water to be cooled up to 22 or 23C. 25C is good enough for me..

the chiller will most likely be hooked up to a 2213 canister.

    thanks for the input all!

the dolphin model 789 will be good enough for you if you are not into upgrading to a bigger tank.
but my suggestion is to get a CL280 for a 2 by 1 by 1.5 feet tank. its more economical according to price and equipments.

me using hailea HC100 chiller for my 1.5ft tank. can forget about the dolphin thing, it is just slightly better than fan. it is still subject to the environment temperature. so if it is high, it is useless! sold off mine.

$50 should be more than enough, for my case i don't see any significant increase in my electricity bill as i do use air con in rooms too, so the bill is already on the high side. it also depends on your chiller setting and environment temperature too. by the way, what you keeping in the tank?

err not really friendly to them as it will fluctuate the temperature too much. unless you are able to be there 24/7 to change the bottles before the temperatures gets too high. oh, remember to place aged water in the bottle.

    bro harrynkl,
as long as the package/plastic is not broken, there's shouldn't be any problem. ( i'm eyeing on the Daiso 2 dollar ice pack )

Guys, google for PYKRETE. This mixture of sawdust and water when frozen will last longer than normal ice or gel. Easy to make and cheap too!
If you've learnt, teach, if you have, give.

You can try but I prefer sawdust as it is easy to pour sawdust into a bottle or a container. 15 percent of sawdust to the container total volume. Water expand when it is frozen so leave some room in the container where the mixture is placed.
