Hi all, sharing my latest buy. One of my favourite variants of all time. Bred once but female got spooked and swallowed all her wrigglers. Keeping the pair in a 2ft tank used to house my redundant plant clippings. Enjoy!

    Female eating mysis shrimps

    Cute looking but fierce

    Male checking me out

    Charging head-on against the mirror

Lastly, their humble and messy home

What a pair. Keep this thread as Baenschi, please. Unlike the other thread.

    Haha Colin!

Should not be a problem for me I guess, as I only have two pairs of apistos. The other pair's thread was already started quite some time ago.

Nice pair, not messy at all maybe can add more plants but can see plenty of hiding places.

Thanks Ben! I still have a huge stalk of Crinum calamistratum. Hmm.

Here's their love nest. The piled substrate and 'mossy front yard' are the doings of the female. She actually transferred the moss patch from the nearby driftwood to her cave!

HAAA!!! I didn't know they groom their house too! So interesting! The moving of the moss!

Great shots my friend. Now now, a flaring pic of the nice looking male will surely make more kakis here drool...

Keep them well, they are gonna be pretty rare...

Haha yeah its hilarious. I've never seen such behaviour before...

She only managed to transfer about 50% of the moss over. The rest were left floating around in the tank. But seriously, I have no idea how she 'plants' the moss at the entrance of the cave... Pity I could not witness it. But now I don't feel like disturbing her 'masterpiece'

Will try to get a flaring picture! Problem is the male seems more interested in 'attacking' the mirror rather than flaring!

She believed that her nest need to be camouflage from the male so she ripped the moss to cover up and i believe she an interior designer also.

I love your simple setup. I think the lotus gives a very nice wild look to the tank. And beautiful pair!

    Thanks! Here's more!
Thanks for keeping them well, they definitely look happier at your place then mine! A great 2 footer! I like it when they can swim freely and be expressive with their mates!

Thanks! I was told its a water lily plant. I'm not really a plant person. But this plant really grows like no tomorrow.

I believe TLC is more important.
I usually give them good surrounding, supplement then food.
