In order for discus to grow, u need to pump them with food and feed them a few times a day.
You will also required to change water more frequently.
Which is impossible if u have them in a planted tank

Yes if you want fast growth, feed 3-4 times a day with Frozen Bloodowrms and beefheart. Daily water change is a must with this regimrnt. If not just let them grow normally. Feedings can onlt speed up so much, good genes also determine the size. Also be sure they equally eat or else the little one will get bullied and get littler.![]()

and 2ft is alittle too small for the discus![]()
Lyon © I would rather walk a thousand leagues then to see your ugly face
your discus is probably stunted. With proper food and regular water change they shld increase by another 1" to 1.5" assuming u dont feed them beefheart, judt BW and tetra bits.
A full time breeder once told me that he has raised his discus by 2" within 2 months.
when the discus is young, feed them more.
sorry to hijack this thread.
i hv a pair in a 2ft planted bought about 3 months back when they abt 2 inches.
now one is abt 4 inch while the other is 3 inch.
is it due to bullying? don't see the bigger one bully the small one.
could it be bad genes or difference in sex (hope it's a real pair)?
thanks
Cheers,
Melvin Lim
From my personal experience, difference in size due to gender should not be so pronounced till when the discus is >4.5 inches. The difference you are experiencing would most likely be due to feeding habits; you can say it is in the genes. Did the pair come from the same parents?

Think its more of not changing water everyday.... tot changing water will encourage fin rot and some other diseases??? so if my discus are stunned...will proper care starting from now ab able to help in their growth??
Thanks.....![]()
