What is the thickness of the existing tank?
If you've learnt, teach, if you have, give.

    Re: setting up marine tank

    Is it braced or braceless?
What colour is the silicone and is it in good condition?

A sump is highly recommended, as well as a skimmer. You will need to add or modify an overflow into your main tank, and get a return pump to send it back in.

Take your time and do proper research first, patience is probably even more important with marine setups than freshwater.

6mm is thinner than recommended for a 3ft marine tank...

I'd recommend against it, the middle of the tank is liable to bow slightly under the load, and may cause the tank to crack after some time.

You might want to consider getting an 8 - 10mm tank new instead of reusing this one.

Yup, 6mm is just asking for trouble. Get a proper tank with a overflow and get a sump to house your equipment such as skimmer and such. It wouldn't be worthwhile if you take shortcuts. Plan your setup.
