HOF flow rate VS Ehiem Classic

For a 2x1x1 tank, I have seen recommendation on various forums that a HOF filter should have at least 600 - 800 l/h.

As for the Ehiem Classic[1], I have seen recommendation that 2213 should be used but it that does not match the flow rate? According to the flow rate, 2215/2217 should be used? Perhaps should consider Ecco Pro or even the Pro version?

    Many Thanks.

I should have posted this under the "Equipment and Accessories" topic.

Can the mod help me move this?

I am using a 2213 for my 2x1x1.5(ht) tank, and it works just fine. A 2x1x1 is abt 55l, so with the 2213 rated at 400l/h (without media?), it should be fine to power that.

IHMO, I think it can even power the same tank with a chiller in between! (though cleaning it more regularly will be required as the rate reduces with 'goo' buildup). If you have the extra funds to get a bigger canister, I'd think it's OK, as the flow rate can be reduced somewhat by adding valves/rainbars etc, though I'm not sure if that will damage the pump long run..

    Thanks.

I'm currently using a HOF. I removed the existing cartridges and replaced them with a coarse and fine filter wool. I have also added biohome plus.

I was considering 2213 or 2215 when I want to change the HOF to a canister filter.

GREAT! The Classic series are excellent! I'm sure you'd not regret.
