hi, I used to use the air tube to "siphon" the small fries out.
hi those who have a nice planted set up and a pair that have spawned sure encounter some problems netting out the fries. mind sharing some experience? any easier way? mind was like 5 mm when the female start laying eggs and chasing the fries away. have to remove the whole setup and net out the fries. in the process i stress the female too much and she ate up all the eggs...
Please share your methods hereall methods/suggestions welcomed!
hi, I used to use the air tube to "siphon" the small fries out.
wont injured the fries? any casuality after siphoning?
I had the same problem previously. I think first you should siphone some water to make the arrival less dramatic and I think the bigger the fry ara the better as long as they don't stick in the tube/hose. When I did it the female was stressed and started to pick up the fries and only later turned it out that she only secured them instead of eating.
In my case, not really. However, I did it rather quickly but "sneakily" at night. The mum might get spooked and it will start getting harder and harder to remove them
Best would be to seperate before the female starts spawning again. IMHO, both siphoning and netting are equally ok.

is it easy for you guys to net the fries out? for me with some DW and plants it is actually quite difficult to net them out unless i take all the decorations out
I would remove the driftwoods first. Then use 2 nets and slowly catch. Takes a bit of time.

Airtube siphoning, works like a charm all the time for me.
