Your best bet will be to give YiHu a call...Oceanfree is a private label brand of theirs if I am not wrong.
I am looking for the 3 ft version of this lamp, The brand is Oceanfree. Anyone know where to go to get the "best price" for this lamp?
Actually I am thinking of buying these housings so that I can retrofit them with 36W PLs and e-ballast. Since I will have to pay at least $80 for 2 3ft housings, would it be more economical for me to custom make a hood instead? Is it possible to get a shop to custom make a hood for $80? Thanks.

Hi mosfat, one of those 3ft ocean free housing cost ard $50+ with 2XFL tubes(pink) included. You will probably need to spend at least $100 to get 2 of such housings.
pm.
I have 2 3ft ocean free light. Using FL light now.
However, if u wanna get this light casing and change to PL light. The cost is not justifiable. The light hood cost around $40+ and the PL tube and e-ballast can cost u around $40+. Total close to $90.
Why not you just go to Nature Aquarium at Thomson rd and get the 3ft PL light. It's 2x36w with e-ballast and cost $99. Save u the trouble of DIY also.
Moreover, the light hood from NA is taken from FL light too. Looks the same like Ocean free one. Can't remember the brand.
Hope this helps.
I think NA is using the brand "Atman" lamp to modify.. correct me if i'm wrong[]
Hi,
DIY will be a lot cheaper then getting those light hood.
ever consider getting those rain gutters or even aluminium sheets as light hood
