    hi guys

    just want to know more abt the usage of normal ceramic ring for external canister filter (plant tank)

    --long do u change/replace your ceramic ring. 3mth, 5mth 6mth?

    --does ceramic ring have a lift span,referring to those normal ceramic ring sell @ abt $7 or $8 type?

    --can those ceramic ring be washed and clean after using for 5mth. will it cause any harm to the fish?

    ceramic rings are rings ceramic after all.. can wash. but just make sure you don't wash them all at one go.. maybe 1/2 of them with tank water.. then 3 mths later.. the other half. that will do.

    actually it depends on your tank. healthy planted tanks hardly use the biofilter.
    ---------------

    use aged/tank water to wash the ceramic rings and you will be fine.

    the dangers of washing ceramic rings is in case chlorine kills off the bacteria. since old water don't have chlorine, you'll be safe.
