    Hi all,

I am attempting the dry start method to grow my HC. Currently i have grown the HC emersed for about a month or so. I understand that i will need to dose CO2 during the first few weeks to ensure a better transition from emersed to submersed state.

Can i leave my co2 running for 24 hours? Reason being that i do not have a solenoid, and i will be away for a week.
And also, is there a way i can slowly reduce the amount of co2 supplied and ultimately go non-co2?

    Thanks!

Hc is a very demanding plant. No matter, what i think in the end you still need to dose co2 de.

Thanks eviltrain for the reply .

I have read on some places that HC is actually not as demanding as what most people think and i think i have seen it in low tech tanks, so i guess its not such a demanding plant after its established?

If CO2 is a must, can i leave the CO2 on 24/7 in the initial phase when there is no fauna?

Co2 presents when there's light. When there's no light it won't be growing.

I think his question is whether it is ok to leave CO2 on 24/7, not when it should be on optimally to minimise CO2 usage.

I would say yes, you can leave it on 24/7, especially so when you have no fauna. Some bros here have it on 24/7 even with fauna. It should be ok as long as the fishes are not gasping for air at the surface. The positive aspect to having it on 24hrs is that there will not be too huge a pH swing between lights on and off.

    Thanks bro gemo82!

But if i were to leave it on for 24/7, will there be a problem of affecting the growth of the HC since i understand that they need oxygen to grow too?
