Romans 6:12-13. Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness.

Depends what you are keeping. For mollies and goldfish they will appreciate a bit of salt. If you have snails, careful with salt as it may kill them. Salt is also used to kill parasite & bacteria. But better to use aquarium salt and not table salt as it might contain iodine which is bad for your aquarium.

Aging water a few days can remove chlorine but not chloramine.

Try adding anti-chlorine/anti-chloramine solutions. I think Seachem Prime is one such product

    Re: Changing water?

I perform partial water change with water conditioner that have anti-chlorine and anti-chloramine properties. I did not use any aged water but I did let the water settle down with the conditioner for about 5-10mins before any water change.
