I would suggest to use Soil like benibachi to keep the ph constant instead of using Co2. Unless you are keeping demanding plants i suggest not to use Co2 24 hours especially when you mentioned that you are venturing into high grades.
Hi guys, I plan to setup a 2ft high tech tank keeping high grade crs. I know If wan keep crs, best is not to use co2 in the setup.. But I have seen many bros high tech tank keeping crs, so I decide to venture to tis path too. In order to minimize the ph swing from on / off the co2 during the light on period, I plan to on co2 24hrs non stop and during the night, I will on the air pump to gas off the co2. Is it workable? Please advise this birdie here.![]()

Co2 on 24/7 is fine, at least for me. I keep crs and gebt. No casualty so far for 2 months. Air Pump is workable.
I don't have air pump, but 2 sets of lily pipe. Use one set for surface agitation.tank size 2 feet. Co2 2bps all day long.

Doesn't pH swing only when there is a build up of CO2 in the water when lights are off. Caused by carbonic acid if I remember correctly.
Meaning pH goes lower when lights are off and pH goes back up when lights are back on for low KH tanks. So if you have KH 5 or more, CO2 is not really gonna help lower your pH.

heavenkid, an advice for you.
High grades and high tech don't mix. Either you wants beautiful shrimps or beautiful scape. Unless you really have alot of high tech stuffs to keep the water condition ultimate for the creatures.
you might in the end need to keep on buying high grades to top up those dead in the high tech tank.

I think if you are seriously into the shrimp hobby , you should not have co2.A moss-only tank with shrimps is very nice and pleasant to your eyes.Furthermore , from what i know is that carbon dioxide will react in the water to produce carbonic acid which is an weak acid that may affect the ph.An unstable ph level in a tank is very dangerous for sensitive animals , especially shrimps. Thus , i would recommend you to have no co2 for your shrimp tank .
hee hee, but hor, my tank is high tech as in keeping shrimps healthy and alive, not for plants.
