    Hi all,

After dosing TMG do we need to add other supplements? I changed water weekly about 10-20% and I dose 25% or lesser of the recommended dosage weekly. Go higher and algae blooms! Planted tank about 6 months now. Thanks for replying.

You have to check your NO3 and PO4. If either of these are low, and you up the TMG, then there's a inbalance.

If you're comfy with the current dose... stick with it. If not figure out which is deficient NO3 or PO4. You'll need to keep an eye on K, Mg and Ca too. Fix about NO3 and PO4 first. Then lookout for K, Mg and Ca deficiencies.

Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:

A woman: without her, man is nothing.

Plants need what some call macronutrients (Nitrogen, Phophorus, Potassium or K) as well as micronutrients (Calcium, Magnesium, Ferum, Boron, Sulphur etc). TMG has only some of the required nutrients, mostly micros and some K.

In heavily planted tanks with low-to-mid fish popns, N, P and K can quickly be depleted, leading to sub-optimal plant growth and giving algae (whose needs are simpler) an advantage. That's why some folks here regularly add N (KNO3), P (K2PO4), K (KH2SO4) and some other nutrients (Dr Mallick is a popular source), apart from general formulations like TMG. Of course, your lights and CO2 must be enough (at least 30 mg/l) to fuel the plants absorption of the nutrients.
