Platy are known to be nibblers. Are they suitable for planted tank?

The platies may go for those fine-leaf plants like Rotala wallichi or Mayaca. But if given enough food, they may ignore the plants. I have Swordtails and Platies in my tank. So far OK.
I ever see SAE biting on the Rotala wallichi in my case, making it botak.

whether your platies are well fed or not doesn't really matter cos they wil still nibble on some of the plants because thats a mandatory part of their diet....but the nibbling is really minimal.....

Platies are ok for my planted tank. In fact I used them for cycling my tank . They are quite hardy . Just get those platies used for Arowana or Luohan feed. $2 for 20-25 per pack. They are quite nice to look at , with different mix and patches. Some just don't like them , and thinking they are "cheap" fishes.

Would agree with bro Neon. I did the same thing. Bought those for feeding to cycle my tank. Now, when they grow up, they look beautiful. They do nibble especially on my cabombas (fine leafed) ... but do not leave any obvious signs. Definitely a joy to watch []
