Restarting this hobby.

Since having 3 kids, am lucky can keep fishes aready.
Use to fish in tuas. Lotsa of big fishes as the naval base still new. Then cannot fish there any more, shifted to punggol still okay.

Been to changi beach many years back... Not much catch rate. Mostly catfish. Agree. Fishing is not just the catch. But is about the process and relaxing with your buddy.![]()

Hey, there is a fishing spot in pulau ubin as well. First bridge heading to the chalet direction. Lots of fish in the water enclosed in a saltwater pond.

You seen the burnt mark over on the bridge hehe camped over there once long ago haha

I fish at bedok jetty @ Ecp and used to take speed boat into the kelong at the pasir ris area to fish. Got lots of weird catch over there, cause it like somewhere in the middle of the sea... Best was a white eel like fish which was ferocious and bitten our bags lol... Used to fish with my friend at a hatch club at west coast area, but there mostly small cat fish and small groupa...

Any great place to fish? Quite sick of fishing small fish haha
Restarting this hobby.

Rent a boat go out to the southern area of the sea.. Didn't have lots of good and big fight, except a 7kg groupa ... It's nothing really enormous but my biggest ever landed in Singapore. I see some of my friend go overseas like Malaysia and Thailand got cobia( or whatever the name) 15 kg...

used to be a hardcore bottom/offshore angler.
over a period of 3-4 years, been to a few places sg, Msia, Indo SCS
a few of my alltime fave capt; ricky(nela), henry(rico), ah jiang, james, ah bao, etc
mostly nite fishing, heavy bottom fishing, braided line of 50-65lbs (very kiasu type), daytime will be light tackle, played abit of jigs too.
i'm the lazy type, hook on the bait, drop line, look at rod tip or drag sound...
just to name a few species, cobia, tenggiri, gao-tun, angcho, parrotfish, etc...
in fact, over the weekend my frens were at rompin, havent got time to catch up with them, due to work...
miss the good old days...![]()

I miss going pulau ubin... There is one stal that sell mango is real tasty and sweetSo what fish did you caught ?

Oh bro... Never realize that you go fishing as well. Find a day we should catch up for a fishing trip... Talk about fishing staff and not about Planting![]()

I always want to go offshore fishing. Guess soon... You are indeed a very hardcore angler... 50 -65lbs. Haha. Play save... Thanks for sharing your experience here rolex.

i remember, there were nites when we were hit by strong current, our line will fly like kite even with 1kg sinker.
i must admit 50-65lbs lines are quite kiasu, as i dun wanna have too much of different line poundage, considering braided lines are not cheap.
Anyway, i have stop bottom fishing totally.
by the way, Rest In Peace for the 2 missing fishingkakis at Mersing.
happy shrimping all

i will be going next weekend depart from Changi so will be fishing further around the area. So far what bait is the best for offshore fishing ? Other then lure.
Yah, Sad to hear of the incident hopes the victim of the family will stay strong.

Bro change area fish are sensitive to line... Well I used to fish there quite often... For ur leader use abt 15lbs to 20lbs will do... If higher than tat the fish won't eat... We usually use kelong sotong or live prawn tat all... Best to have bigger weight choice or else your line me layang if the weight not heavy enough... Boat men's play a part too...
Good fish ain't cheap... Cheap fish ain't gd...
Breeding Apisto inca and Apisto guttata...

for me it depends on any targeted species on that day.
day time, i think the best bait is live prawn and crab.
i'll use about 20 pounds florocarbon line, apolo with single or double hooks with live prawns or crab.
night time will be live sotong, kelong sotong, kuming, kelongchi, jackson, crab, mulitple live prawns, etc...
ra-gong and long leader, at least dupont 50pounds (again, i was very kiasu)
if current not strong, reduce the lenght of the leader, unless u like fried mee-hoon.
my heavy bottom tackle, was calstar 760L, match with OJ4000P, 65pounds braided line.
on my crazy day, i'll use live bait, kuming, baitfish, jackson, big sotong.
ra-gong with about 1.5-2meter of dupont leader 50 pounds.
heaviest catch i got was cobias, angchos, rays, groupas and some unstoppable train (suspect jewfish)...
some fisherman joke, the one that got away, is always the biggest.
dead fish continue to grow (see how your friend boost about his/her catch.. the size keeps getting bigger)
this is my all time fave, 9.5 out of 10 fisherman likes to boost (aka big cannon)![]()

Hi All,
Not sure if this is applicable to you guys cause I'm Malaysian and I live across the causeway in JB. A Singaporean friend of mine brought me once to Punggol by boat and I think we were near Serangoon Island. Caught a number of small moses perch (ang cho kee) and also big talang queenfish (sarm pahn tiao).
If you guys are keen on fishing do come over to Johor and I'll be happy bring you all to a few of my favourite fishing spots. I fish under the Tuas second link bridge and you can get fishes like barracuda, cobia, big eye trevally and not forgetting the barramundi. Is really very near to Singapore.
There is another area near Sedili Cove on the way to Desaru and Kota Tinggi. I used to catch 2-3kgs mangrove jack snapper (ang cho) and orange spotted groupers. If lucky we can get pretty big barramundi between 3-5kgs.
Lastly, if you all are into freshwater fishing, there is always the tomans (channa micropeltes), haruans (channa striatus) and bujuk (channa lucius) that I fish from the natural ponds and peat swamps.![]()
Just wondering if you guys usually do catch and release or catch and eat...?
