hi, i currently have both a honey gourami, and a plakat which i just added to the tank.

i have read that honey gouramis are generally peaceful community fish, and keeping them before, found it to be so. however, upon adding the plakat to the tank, they honey chases the plakat around. the tank is a 10 gallon, semi planted. tank makes are 2 other ctenopoma ansorgii and 5 otos

anyone with experience can enlighten me as to whether it is a phase, where they are sort of establishing a pecking order, or is the honey a really viscous creature that i should separate from the plakat

    much thanks

    Re: Plakat and Honey Gourami

The honey gourami are very peaceful, but males are territorial just like their cousins, the dwarf gourami. They will establish a pecking order in the tank. Given that the honey gourami spends most of the time in the upper levels, and C. ansorgii on the lower levels, I guess the honey gourami just found the plakat to be a nuisance to his dominance of the upper layer.

I would watch things closely if I were you. On most days, plakat will probably murder the honey gourami.
