    Hi, welcome to the forum..

Really depends on what brand you want.. But prices around are almost the same but for my personal preferences I will go to Petmart at Serangoon North as they are pretty near my place.. You might be able to bargain a little.. Hehe

Depends on what chiller size you are looking for and for what tank size..
Reasonable brand will Hailea which I find it pretty quiet during kick in.. Based on 1/10hp will be approximate $280-320 I guess..

    Re: Chiller

There is a sizing chart for reference

But the usual practice is to go 1-sized up due to heat load (pumps/ lights/ location of tank) to consider.

You wouldn't want your chiller to run 24/7 365...

The chiller is on 24/7 but all the chiller would do is check the temperature. The chiller will only chill when it hit temp u set up the chiller.
The more powerful the chiller, the faster it chill. Let's say it's a recommended size. Example -(not real) you get a recommended size for the tank. And set the temp at 24c. It will start chilling normally at 24.4c till about 23.6-23.8. This is if the chiller works at 0.2decimals.
It take 1.30hr to chill. Then it will stop. Go spend sometime at your fridge it also work this way.
bigger capacity chiller would take 1hr or less.
Then this become a battle between temp going up and temp going down. Cause of ambient temp higher. Condensation takes place and heat cause the tank to increase temp. If it take 1.30hr to chill. And it take 2.30hr to heat up to 24.4c after 1.30hr of chilling your chiller will have 1hr of rest time before kicking in and start chilling again. But if your chiller take 1hr to chill. And heat up due to ambient temp 2.30hr. Your chiller got 1.30hr become kicking in again.
Which take shorter to chill and less kick in. So u will have less power usage too. You save money long run.
It also matters if u are thinking about upgrading your tank. Example now I using a 2ft tank using a 1/10 chiller which in 6 months I would upgrade to 3ft and I dun have to change chiller cause I can use the same chiller as the power is enough.
High end chiller are good to have but can work with cheaper ones.
A lot of shrimp breeder use hailea. Recommended to DIY external probe or get a temperature controller cause the temp reading is not so accurate.

Sorry it's a example. On the heating and chilling process. About shorter kick in time and less kick in. Not a real senario

Ok I realise u stated nano tank. What type of filter u using. It has to be a canister filter if you want to connect to this way.
Tank > filter > chiller > tank. Unless u adding a pump to push the water from the tank to the chiller and back to the tank which is abit waste as you need a extra power plug. Plus your filter or pump flowrate must match the chiller flow rate.

    Re: Chiller

For a Nano tank, you can use the IceProbe chiller, but that requires you to cut a hole in the tank wall to accommodate it. The Teco TR-5 or TR-10 should also be suitable if you don't wish to drill a hole etc, but the price may put a dent in your wallet. Cheaper brands to consider would be Resun and Hailea.

The Dolphin mini chiller series seem cheap but the heat generated may not be what you want. Cheapest way, don't keep the CRS and just use fan with your Cherry in the tank.

I intend to use the mini probe chiller for my nano tank but the price is quite damn ex. I not going to cut a hole in my glass haha. I adding the probe on my Hangon filter so the water out will be chilled. Cut a hole sounds quite scary. For a nano tank it's not really partical to keep crs. Might as well get a 2ft tank.

    Re: Chiller

I would advice against using IceProbe chiller or similar solid state thermoelectric cooling technology.

Here in humid and hot Singapore, the unit will be working overtime just to get 1 degree lower IF it is achievable at all.

Tried 1 previously, and it was running 24/7 !!
