blyxa japonica turning tanin brown

Hi,
My blyxa japonica is turning a little brownish on some leaves - it used to be very green but recently have truned slightly brown after i repositioned them to be under a stronger light - its bubbling healthily but i am just a little concerned - anyone has any idea why its so?

Bubbling or streaming? There's some difference.

Perhaps you can give us your lighting intensity. Btw, how are your BJ leaves? Are they reddish with patterns on them when they were in their original location? If yes, IMO, perhaps the lightin are too strong for them. Are there base fertlilizers in the new location? They are heavy root feeders.

One reason that they are not doing well is that the nutrients may not be sufficient. It was ok b4 when there was less light could be due to the fact that the extra light now is forcing the plant to produce more 'food' while nutrients are not readily avialable for the plant.

I'm only guessing.

Under strong light, blyxa japonica can exhibit some very fine red patterns on the leaves, often making it appear brown or bronze. Examine the leaves closely, you should see the very striations on a green background. If the leaf is uniformly brown, then it's probably a problem.

thanks all for yr explanation...its a little red with patterns on the leaves - bubbling as in streaming bubbles... some leaves are green still while quite a few has turned red with patterns on the whole leave...
