After seeing some bros Sulewesi Shrimp
I've been tempted to start one
The pattern & coloration of Sulewesi makes me feel like they are Marine shrimps
Beautiful bright color with nice pattern
Starting up small in a 1 Feet Tank
And here is My 1st attempt on a Sulewesi Tank
    Water parameter as follow;
    pH 8.5
    gH 6
    TDS 220
    Any advice on the parameter???
    Or improvement advice to me???

    Some of the advance parties

One berried Mama...hopefully it hatches well...

i knew something was coming when you were clearing your tanks & racks.

    POISON!!!

something different from what i noticed from others.
yours still looked very freshwater.. while others might give me a saltwater feel.

Have never kept Sulawesi but having read literature over the net, would't driftwood decrease the pH?

    Re: 1st Try on Sulewesi

Bro a wonderful father. Nice setup. Sulawesi cardina is very hardy I can say after I switch them to a smaller tank. For food wise at first I try to feed some shrimp food but they would not rich it at all, until last week I put in a piece of spinach they started to eat it and mosura excel also. Tylo snail love the spinach one of them eat up half of the remaining pcs.

My PH level was at 8-8.2 my gh is quite high 10-12. They got no problem with it. Now keeping together with Malaya shrimp as well.

But one thing for sure is that they are not so active as other shrimp, they don't really swim around. That is what made me bore of it. But still keeping it at the moment.

Ya one thing I found out, I told you before one of my shrim is handicap, one side of the hand & leg is gone. when I bought it from C328. Is has been one month and the hand and legs have grow back. This made me happy.

    Cheers
Enjoying every mins of the process. Happy Shrimping.

    Thanks bro...
Normally they will grow back after moulting....
    How's the breeding?
And should I buffer up the gH?

My cardinal is not breeding I only have 2pcs might not be compatible also but the 1.5ft tank that I rescape to Sakura tank have given birth to shrimlet already in the 2 week of the process seems everything is fine.

For me GH is not really so important, I would not purposely push up or down the GH. I will leave it to the nature. The most important factor i find for shrimp keeping is TDS. If I am not wrong Once TDS is adjusted will also affect GH slightly. I am not so experience in keeping Sulawesi I just started only same as you. Don't know whether GH will affect breeding.

All this I learn through reading and I experience myself and like everyone say if your tank is breeding and molting well. No need to worry about whether our tank parameters is the same as other successful breeders.

But I would like to add I am not expert and you are more experience in shrimp keeping. I have a lot to learn from you.

Above stated is just my way of keeping shrimp through trial & Errors.

    Cheers

I am envy of you. I had 3 rounds with cardinals and don't work out. My ph is ok, my gh about 7 to 8 and my TDS is stable at 270 but still don't work out.

    Re: 1st Try on Sulewesi

Yo bro, Welcome to the World of Sulawesi Shrimps!! Firstly, not sure how you are buffering up the pH but it looks good. As long as you are able to keep it up with +/- 0.2 fluctuations, the shrimps will be happy and probably breed. GH can be higher though, but not critical. The nightmare usually comes after the WC or top-up. If not done carefully, you will start to see shrimps dying.

    Have fun!!
