I have housed both variants in the same tank before. They coexist peacefully in general, except for some minor territorial disputes. With regards to cross-breeding, I have no knowledge to that as I have only successfully bred the purple ones.
Hello guys, I was reading up about vampire crabs and it's said that they do better in species only tanks right?
My question here is I went to look at them and they mainly had 2 color types being sold, which one was red claw and black body, while the other was purple claw and black body with like a cream color on top. Is it possible that both these types can be housed together?

Google vampire crabs and you'll see there's one mainly with purple claws and another one mainly with red claws. The size of the crabs were the same and the name was carnival crab and red carnival crab I think. I can't remember clearly. There was another one. But it was really small. Smaller than the vampire crab.
The red variant is also called the "red devil".
I was under the impression they weren't supposed to be kept together, good to hear that it can be done actually.
Don't believe the will interbreed though. Also read on a site somewhere the red ones are easier to get offspring from than the regular purple variety.
