Low or inconsistant CO2 mainly.

Manual removal or use Hydrogen peroxide

Keep your CO2 high coupled with proper lighting and good water circulation.

I had maintane the co2 ppm between 20-30 already so I had to inject somemore?

BBA occur at some parts or quite well-distributed? on which plants?

lighting shall not be a problem cos using 2X36watt light on a 2X1X1.5 shall give me 3.x w/g.

how to check water circulation? A rain bar is attached at he back of the tank. I can see the particles spread evently all over the tank.

Can see a few BBA on almost all the plant.

If i use hydrgen peroxide wun it affect my plant or those creatures in the tank?
Now hoping my SAE would eat them. But seems tat they rather nibble dirt than eating the BBA

How is your fertilizing regime and what are your NO3 and PO4 levels? Check CO2 ppm at different times of the day and see if the values are more or less constant. I would keep it near 30ppm or slightly more if the fish/shrimp don't show any signs of stress.

The best method to prevent BBA is to make sure nutrients is in balance so BBA don't take a foothold. Needs lots of patience and practise. Read the articles at the FAQ http://www.aquaticquotient.com/phpbb...ic.php?t=12122 , especially the Tom Barr's article.

Another cause of bba is too much floating plants. I have started to see some of the bba re-appearing again after my floating plants increase in population. Now, I have to throw them out and just leave a few pieces.

BFG, that is not a direct factor for BBA though....more like a nutrient shortage causing all the plants to slow down or stunt. When plants slow down or stunt, algae comes in for a holiday...

yup, I feel as the floating plant population grew, they consume more fert with the long roots that it has, leaving little for the rest. Would advise others not to keep too much of these floating plants in their tank. Mine already went in the bucket.

After reading tat BBA appear when there is poor water circulation. So i change the rain bar position. Use to be at the back of the tank now at the side blowing to the other side of my 2ft tank.
After one week I still see BBA growing. BBA even grow on the part where my rain bar is blowing at.
My friend who bought all kinds of tester tested tat everthing within the range.
CO2 pump as high as 35-40ppm already.
Any other advise
I HATE BBA!

What kind of kit are you using for measuring the pH? Are you sure the CO2 level is high throughout the entire photoperiod or just the start/end? Check and recheck to be sure....poor test kit resolutions and equipment in need of calibrations can add to errors in CO2 levels.

35+ppm of CO2 is dangerous!! reduce it.
My experience with BBA...

BBA start to multiply when I overdose LushGro Micros. Appears mostly in areas receiving the most water flow, in front of the outlet. No BBA at all on leaves far away from outlet.

hey Aeon,

i'm in the same situation as u. i just switch from TMG to LushGro Micros. The dosage is the same as TMG, ie 15ml for my 3ft tank, 2times / week. During these few days, found 3 of my big 'gu jin chao' which are near my IOS inlet getting BBA, and worse still the BBA seems to be growing fast into beard form.

Now, i'm suspecting LushGro overdosed. btw i'm sure my CO2 is enough :P

aeon then how u solve your BBA problem? I monitor 35ppm for my fish is still alright

I haven't solved it yet, just reduced it by reducing my dose of LushGro Micros by half and pruning away affected leaves every 1-2 days.

Never had much success with increasing CO2.

I saw my Yamatos eating BBA!! really, they tried to pluck the BBA and I saw them putting the BBA into their mouth.

and they ate all my green hair algae overnight...
