I recently got two angelfish and a ten gallon tank. they seemed to be doing fine, they've been very active. They love eating, etc. But tonight my one angelfish started using only one of it's fins and is staying near the bottom of the tank. I had fed them recently before this happened, and now shortly afterwards he's staying towards the bottom and not using his one fin. My other Angelfish is staying near him, almost like its protecting him. They seem close they always are near each other.

Does anyone have any idea of what could be wrong. It's very sudden. Is he possibly just being lazy and just doesn't want to use it right now. I'm very worried. they are like my babies and I would be so upset if something was wrong with him. I had my tank water checked at petsmart yesterday actually and they said everything is great. I have no clue what to do.

How long you have been keeping the angelfishes?

    How big is your angelfishes?

10-gallon tank seem small for angelfishes.

I've had them for a little over a Week now. they're very small still, probably my black angel is about under a nickel in size, the other one is smaller. Between a nickel and dime in size probably.

They were in a 1.5 gallon for one day, and then I got the ten gallon the next day per the advice of an employee at petco..

I just checked them and now the black angel is doing the same thing on the same side. Is this some weird but normal behavior (wishful thinking). I'm just so worried. It's just extra strange that now both of them won't use their fins on their left side now.

Clamp fins is a sign that the fishes are under tremendous stress due to the transporting, moving, changing of tanks, changing of water parameters and etc. Moreover, angelfishes under a nickel size is really tiny (juvenile) and they are not very strong. You will have to prepare for the worse.
