according to my experience, 1/10 is not enough for your tank. maybe it may cause the chiller startup frequently.
Need advise from fellow hobbist in choosing a chiller for my 3ft tank.
Tank Dimension: 90x45x42cm (45 gallon)
Current water temp without chiller: 30deg'c
Intended water temp with chiller: 23deg'c
Total heat from 4xT5 tube: 156watt
Filter: Eheim 2217 (flowrate 264 gallon/hr, 1.5 gallon capacity)
I calculated using JBJ's chiller size calculator, it recommends 1/10 HP. I've read many sites advising to go 1 step higher (1/5 HP) so that it requires less kick ins and use less power.
Is that really necessary or 1/10 would be more than enough for my tank? Thanks in advance for the advices![]()
