If you want to keep track of a thread, you can subscribe to it. It is then added to your list of subscribed threads in your Settings page. In a way, they act like bookmarks. You can opt to have email notifications sent to you when there are new posts to the threads. In AQ, by default, you are automatically subscribed to any threads that you start or post to. The default subscription mode is Instant email notification. Modes of subscription are explained below.

Modes of Thread Subscription
There are 5 thread subscription modes:

• Do not subscribe
• Through my control panel only
• Instant email notification
• Daily email notification
• Weekly email notification

You can set your mode of subscription in your Settings page, under General Settings.

Do not subscribed
In this mode, you will not be automatically subscribed to any threads that you start or post to.

Through my control panel only
In this mode, you will be automatically subscribed to any thread that you start or post to, but you will not receive email notifications when there are new posts to the threads. You will only see the notifications listed in your Settings page.

Instant email notification
In this mode, you will be automatically subscribed to any thread that you start or post to. You will receive an email notification for the first post to each subscribed thread after you last read the thread. You will not receive any furthur notifications for those threads until after you next read the thread. This is the default mode when you register with AQ.

Daily email notification In this mode, you will be automatically subscribed to any thread that you start or post to. You will receive a daily email to notify you of any new posts to your subscribed threads. If there are no posts to your subscribed threads for that day, you will not receive any notification email.

Weekly email notification
In this mode, you will be automatically subscribed to any thread that you start or post to. You will receive a weekly email to notify you of any new posts to your subscribed threads. If there are no posts to your subscribed threads for that week, you will not receive any notification email.

To subscribe to a thread without posting to it:

1. View the thread that you want to subscribe to.
2. Click "Thread Tools" in the menu bar just above the first post of the page. A drop down menu will appear.
3. Click on "Subscribe to this Thread". A new page will open.
4. The rest is quite intuitive.

The steps to unsubscribe from a thread are the same as those for subscribing to a thread without posting to it. Just select "Unsubscribe from this Thread" in the Thread Tools drop down menu.

You can manage your subscriptions from your Settings page. Just go to your Settings page and click "List Subscriptions" in the menu on the left. The interface is quite intuitive.

You can also organise your subscriptions in folders. Simply click "Edit Folders" menu item below "List Subscriptions". The interface is also quite intuitive. Using "List Subscriptions", you can move existing subscriptions between folders.
