I am also looking to set up a 2ft tank with cabinet, 'upsizing' frm my current 3 gallon nano.

Does it make sense to buy a set from LFS or qian hu for 220 to 250 or go ala carte w folks like green field which will cost 300 or more?
i am also thinking of going ala carte with a LFS, but have concern with the tank. They have something standard for 28 or the more exp GEX

It really depends on your budget and preference... if you are the non-fussy type or the LFS happens to have the right tank and cabinet package in design/color that you like, then its usually cheaper overall to go for a packaged deal.

But if you want a specific tank and cabinet design/color, then buying them separately (or custom making them to your exact specifications) would be the way to go, though it'll tend to cost more.

Either way, shop around at as many LFS as possible to check their deals and tank/cabinet designs. Find the design you really like before purchasing... once a tank is fully setup, it'll be a real hassle to have to re-do it.

Agree, the small customer parking in front of Green Chapter is very small (space for like 5 cars?). Else there is an open air URA parking lot just across the street.

If you would like a recommendation, I got a customised tank + cabinet for a very reasonable price from AquaticDreams. The owner Emman is really good and my high clarity low iron glass is simply fantastic. Go google Aquatic Dreams.

Also, if you live near west area, visit c328 for equipment and substrate. All reasonable prices.

GreenChapter stuff is really high quality but a little on the pricey side but they do have good stocks available with a variety of plants too. I personally go East Ocean for plants since can place order and near my place.

I agree that Emma is really nice though in the end I never bought a customized tank set from him, opted for used tank from a hobbyist instead.

But I do have plan to get a new tank next time, based on good services from bro Emmanuel, I would definitely recommend anyone to get from him (aka Aquatic Dreams) as it's reasonably priced and a lot of options to customized your tank. Very detailed and knowledgeable boss.
