If there's one thing about taxonomy...its that things kept getting moved around and changed as more info became available.

If you have any definitive papers on the species origins of CRS, can you share with us?

As for Taiwan bees and esp golden and snow whites, they are not just debated...they are mysteries!
I never doubt the origin of crs so what facts do you want me to post?

Chill yes. It wasn't a challenge. I apologize if my wordings made it sound hostile as it wasnt my intent. I just didn't keep up to date on the history and was thinking if you have read any papers that is more definitive.
Last I recalled, some hobbyists were combing the streams of china/hong long trying to find the ancestors of the CRS a few years ago and I received some shrimps from a bro that was supposed to be CRS ancestors.

    Re: Non-WR gene WR?

Just a reminder about one of AQ rules:

    Respect Other Members
No doubt occasional disagreements will occur between members and is unavoidable. We appreciate robust debate, but please respect each other and do not resort to insults and personal attacks. Also, do not respond in kind. AQ will take action against all guilty parties, regardless of who initiated it.

Please also remember that the faceless nature of the internet lacks the benefit of body language and other physical clues of intentions. Misunderstandings can occur and please give the benefit of doubt when responding.
The main problem AQ has with the shrimp hobby is that the topics are so quick to get hostile. We have already disallowed the sales of shrimp. Please don't make us disallow discussion as well. AQ would like to support the shrimp hobby by providing a platform for mature, civil discussion and sharing. If it gets ugly too often, we may have to drastic action to keep AQ peaceful and sane.

If someone says something that you disagree with, feel free to dispute it, but do so with maturity and graciousness. Do NOT post pre-/as-sumptions about other members intentions or make unwarranted or un-verifiable accusations. If you feel that a shrimp that looks like a WR is not a WR because of some details with the breeding, just say that exactly so... don't start making accusations that the poster is trying to trick other members, etc. If you did not mean to offend and the person got defensive and started attacking you back, apologise instead of retaliating.

Even if you feel someone has insulted you, please don't respond in kind. If you want, you may highlight to the moderators and they will look into it. This does not mean they will agree with your assessment, but at least we have a chance to look at it and calm things down before it gets too hot.

If it is not a clear cut insult, give the benefit of doubt and respond to the topic, not the perceived insult. If it is clear cut, like being called names, let the moderators know and we'll take care of it.

Please do not dance around in the grey areas asking baited questions, provoking others or making insinuations... we are not blind. If a member does that too often, we will take action.

I like the way this thread started. I assume the intention was to get a healthy discussion about breeding lines, strains and how different colour variants show up, how stable the lines are, etc... just perhaps the question was not welled phrased. So lets keep this a productive discussion.

    Thank you.

    Re: Non-WR gene WR?

hmmm if thats the case, thats not a problem for me. everytime i share, if people ask questions and i will answer straight away. i don't earn a single cent too.

another reason why shrimp hobby is declining is that alot of sharing of photos, but no answering of questions. people like bro Koji has passion in keeping shrimps. he share and answer questions to newbies like me.

yes, a picture says a thousand words. but new term don't.

pulling the discussion back to thread, is it possible that the non Wine Red line will give off all TW bee but Wine Red?

    Non-WR gene WR?

What I have bred is KK x KK, I used to have WR.. Right now seeing less WR appearing but because I cross them with Blue Bolts, I am having BB without the WR now..

But will WR x WR give you non WR offspring? Or even tiger (general) shrimp x tiger shrimp gives you WR when their genes are not tainted with WR genes? I have always tried to keep my shrimps without mixing them up as they are always separated upon classifying they are not of their parent variants, therefore it will be a good lesson for me to learn on crossing.. Hehe..

    Non-WR gene WR?

Not trying to drag this off topic but bro eviltrain didn't a blue jelly or blue something appear briefly on the market in the LFSes a while back? Some online searches would tell me that they bred true but I have never seen them in person and have been curious about them for quite a while.

Not to be confused with the blue Neocaridina called blue jelly also LOL

Let's don't get off topic. Eviltrain bro is taking about WR/non WR shrimps. Don't drag about blue jelly shrimps or CRS. We are talking about TW bees .

    Re: Non-WR gene WR?

sorry sorry about my doremon shrimp. if anyone interested we can get another thread on it. hehe

has anyone heard about this Non-WR line before? too bad i never take a screen shot of what bro Xmant has shared ( now removed )

let me discribe it breifly. anyone can correct me.

it a wine red colour (bloody red) shrimp with minimum white stripes. it might be due to the photo taken with minimum exposure.

come to think of it, is it super crystal red ( CRS breeded for more red instead of white )?

Super crystal red is what I initially suspected as well when I read the previous thread. Without seeing the photos of course.

    Re: Non-WR gene WR?

No point speculating about the non-WR shrimp here, really. Its all going to be guesswork anyway.

All we know is.. The shrimp takes on a WR colour. Phenotypically, it looks like an extreme WR. However, Xmant chose to name it a non-WR for 2 reasons.. (1) He has no new name for it, yet. (2) The name was purposely selected because everyone would assume it was another usual WR, and to distinguish it in short, he decided to call it non-WR to explain that it didn't originate from a WR x WR crossing. Nothing as simple as that.

The above 2 points being said, I think its misleading, on Xmant's part, for the shrimp to be named a non-WR. I do understand what he's driving at though. I also understand how the majority of other bros find it confusing because we generally name our shrimps baaed on the phenotype. We probably got a little too hostile though.

Chill, bros. Just a little misunderstanding.

I think I've covered most points. Xmant, if my assumptions on your shrimp are false.. You have my apology. I'm pretty sure I understood your intentions though..
