Tetrakid, like all people doing planted will tell you for all kinds of Alage, have healthy plants. And plant more. All kinds of Algae thrive on nutrients. If the healthy plants eat upp all the nutrients, the alage will not be able to survive. Hope that helps.

Hi Guys, Thanks. I am in a dilemma if I should decomm this tank and do a purely hardscape tank cause I don't have the time to upkeep since I'm travelling quite often now.

Actually it is self sustaining. But I keep asking myself do I need to add ferts etc? can I even start taking out my CO2?

Certainly can try. Just tidy up the left front corner abit, take out the equipment and you're ready to take that competition photo!
