Never think retail aquarium test kit is really accurate measurement, it may missed a lot ( occasionally ) and it depends to our color interpreter accuracy too.

I had variety test kit in the past, but end up with confusion. Each brand have their own number. These day i just relied on ph digi meter, and never look back the rest. Well it doesn't mean i don't trust them.

Do wc every other day, around 50% of your tank. And slightly decrease the interval every 2 weekend. This is just example that i did. I was doing this till a month or 1.5 month. I never measure No3, Nh4, etc till i use EI fertz.

In planted tank, don't be too obsess with water parameter. Just make sure enough everything for plant to grow .

Yeah, 40ppm for nitrate in a planted tank is okay... once your plant mass increases they will naturally take up more of the nitrates on their own.

Our local tap water also has ammonia and nitrates already present, so although water changes will help lower those levels, there will always still be some remaining in the water for the plants.

Ah i see, thanks for all the information and advice guys.

I've thrown in fauna already, nitrates stabilizing well. So far everything is good except for cloudy water, could be bacterial bloom...?

Not too worried about it as fish look fine to me. So i guess all is good now!!

Thanks for helping me to set up my tank all! Much appreciated!
