If you live in the west then C328 would be best. If you want the Glassterior 300 then placing an order in advance might be good. I've seen similar tanks at GC but not by GEX. You might want to pay them a visit too.

hi bro Stormhawk.
Many thanks for yr reply. Unfortunately, I do not live in the west. Where is GC?
Is the Glassterior similar in size to the GEX? I have measured the Oceanfree one & it is slightly too big for my rack shelf.
Green Chapter is at Sera Centre, along Macpherson Road. It's in the Tai Seng area.
Glassterior series is by GEX:

These 2 pages from the 2012 GEX catalog will help you in making your choice. The ones at Green Chapter aka GC, I have no idea who is the manufacturer.

Maybe i can share my experience with these tanks, i have owned both GEX tanks and the tanks from GC, so i offer abit of comparison info.
GEX tanks are made of normal glass, which have a greenish tint, the silicone workmanship is acceptable and the tanks are packaged with foam mat for the base as well as a glass panel cover (partially covers the top). For the 1ft version, they usually go for around $30+ each.
The tanks from GC are made of low-iron glass, which is clear and whitish (usually labelled as "high clarity" or "crystal"), the silicone work is much neater and they are also packaged with a foam mat for the base, but no glass panel cover. They go for around $40+ each for the 1ft version.
Here is a comparison photo of the difference between low-iron glass and normal glass (glass shown on top is low-iron, glass shown on bottom is normal glass):
I guess the choice between a GEX tank or low-iron glass tank from GC would depend on your requirements and budget.
If you are planning to use the tanks as breeder tanks, than the GEX tanks will serve the purpose well (and save you abit of cash too)... but if you want to use the tanks as showcase tanks, then the low-iron glass tanks will look much better (but you'll have to spend abit more).
Hope that helps.![]()
Thanks bros.
Green Chapter is near my office. So I probably will drop by tomorrow slightly before lunch. Actually, I am a little concerned about the budget as I am buying 5-7 tanks. Also, because of the size of my wooden rack, I need the width to be not more than 7.3 inches. Actually, a brand new 12 x 7.2 inch GEX tank (with plastic cover) goes for $15. I am hoping to get them for under $10 each.
Ah i see... the GEX tanks i was referring to were the Glassterior Series models which are the more expensive versions, the cheaper basic GEX tank models that you mentioned would work well too.
I'm assuming you're planning to use them as breeder tanks? Then i guess no need to get the more costly tanks, the cheaper tanks will definitely save you more cash.![]()
The typical S/M/L size tanks from GEX with the clear rim and black plastic base are made of acrylic I believe. The inner part of the walls are easily scratched but they are quite durable and fairly lightweight. I have an older size L model with black rims and a movable lid that is roughly 10 years old and still in good shape. The black rim along the top of the tank may get annoying sometimes. I think S size is $15 or so at C328 though prices may have changed.
Those glass tanks from GEX or the ones at GC would be nicer to look at however.

hi All bros
Thanks for the input.
Bro Stormhawk - you seem very experienced. Actually, I am getting to start my apisto program. I am targetting 18 tanks - I need 6 more. I find the 12 x 7.2 inch GEX tanks (they are glass - I know because I broke one of them before...) the most suitable for my wooden rack.
You can also try Petmart or those LFS at the Serangoon North cluster. I reckon they ought to have the Glassterior tanks you require.

hi bro Stormhawk. You are not going to believe this but...I live at Serangoon North....So, GC is near my workplace, Petmart is near my house....
I am actually looking for quantity as well as price.
By the way, what species do you keep? Apistos?
Only killifish at the moment, no apistos. I have no space for extra fish or fry at the moment. In fact I just raise fry in a Sudo Satellite L breeder box running off the main tank. Just have to place a piece of sponge at the overflow end to prevent the fry from escaping and for the live food to stay within the box.
