Where did you get your shrimps from? How much. I might want to clear my whole cherry shrimp tank and start with fire reds.
I just started a tank with 3 yellow shrimps. Quite nice the colour.
Nice looking Fire Red shrimps! You must have done a good setup! Care to share some of your experiences since the beginning? Like your tank specs,
My 2 cents suggestion, why not try letting them breed instead of buying more? Of course confirm if you have females =) It'll make the hobby so much more fun to see them breed!
Having a berried mama shrimp is a good sign to know that you have a tank that is set up well!
Perhaps maybe add more mosses/plants or little places for them like driftwoods and such? These help provide some shelter for molting shrimps and of course gives you a more pleasing scape to look at.
Congrats with your Fire Reds! Looking forward to more updates! I'm sure soon enough you will explore many other species of shrimp available in our market!

Thanks Joeybabooey. Yes of course i want them to breed. haha. i'll share my tank specs and set up after i take some good photos. so that can see the whole tank instead of just the shrimp. haha
care to recommend any mosses or plants? right now i have 2 tanks. one of them i'm keeping these fire reds. the next one i'm preparing to keep CRS. both tanks have 2 pieces of US Fissiden rock each. the tank that im planning to keep the CRS has christmas moss tied onto a piece of drift wood. hope to learn more from the pros around here!
Don't mention! I am definitely not a 'pro' but would love to share my experiences =)
Let them breed! Save money on buying moreHahaha! Looking forward to your full tank shot =)
There are plenty of mosses available! Christmas moss is a great choice! one of my favorites! There's also fire moss, weeping moss, spiky moss, mini christmas and mini US fissiden mosses... plenty of pretty mosses to choose from! Do take into consideration that different mosses require different levels of 'care' like temperature and water quality =)
For plants, i would stay away from nana plants as they are known to be toxic to shrimps.
Just to add, personally, i would not plant too much plants (especially stem plants) aside from mosses as we might not be able to see our shrimps anymore! they will be hiding (not on purpose) in the plants... And too many plants like a full on planted tank would cause us to make unnecessary mistakes like the over-dosing of ferts and CO2 which could be detrimental to the shrimps.

this is how my tank set-up looks like right now. its a little bare. the plants are U.S fissidens. may have to add more plants soon!
Are there males in the group? I was wondering if the males if fire red shrimps are also as colourful.

Nice fire red...thanks for sharing..
Hi, may if I ask some questions?
what is your tank size and what lights you using?
Seems like you using ehiem liberty filter with inlet sponge. Although the sponge is well like by your fire reds, but IMO will get choke and reduce your water flow. You may want to consider changing to ss mesh instead?
Try adding some driftwood/ blogwood with moss as centre piece or add height to your tank.
Nevertheless, nice shrimps you have there!
The inlet sponge for your Liberty is alright. But SOMETIMES you do get an odd shrimplet or two in your filter as the holes in the sponge can get big enough. If you are looking at stainless steel mesh inlet cover, GUSH brand is available.
I have found these at Green Chapter and C328 (hanging next to the Mosura products).
What i have done before is to take out the 'cone shaped' plastic inlet of your Liberty and then just replace that with your stainless steel mesh.
If i am not wrong, the size of the inlet tubing for Eheim Liberty is 16/22mm? so you can look for the stainless steel mesh that fits that size. Bring down a piece of you inlet tubing to double check before you buy.

Some new pictures taken using my note 2. May have been wrong about berried females upon inspection closely just now. Anyways, got the ss mesh. Almost had troubles fitting it in. Still looking for rocks/driftwood to add to the tank.
Did you get the 13mm stainless steel filter inlet strainer? If so, it may be too small thus the difficulty in getting the fit. 17mm might be a better choice.
Nice Fire red Shrimps... Been trying to breed FR Shrimp but seems the baby shrimps not as good as the parent. Anyone has the same experience?
