Same here, I added red sakura shrimps into my tank, never got any offspring that were the same quality.
So I just stuck to cherry shrimps and cull

I donit have FR and painted anymore since i focus into Crimson and other PRL line. I bought FR from singapore and some from hongkong.
Fire reds are basically the reddest of each batch of reproduced cherry shrimps, as there is no guarantee that all offspring will be the same quality.
I've tracked my berried fire reds in a shrimp-only tank, monitoring the offspring from tiny 2-3mm transparent shrimplets to 1cm length juveniles (when their actual colors can start to be seen), on average usually only 20% grow up to nice and red (like their parents), 40% are less red, and 40% look like normal low-grade cherry shrimps (might also be because they are males).
The nicer red ones i'll leave in the shrimp tank to continue breeding, the lower grade ones i'll transfer to other tanks to become maintenance crews.
Here is a photo of my mixed-grade 2nd generation cherry shrimps (aka tank maintenance crew) enjoying an algae wafer. Some are dark red, some light red, some even orangy-red...
If you factor in the natural attrition rates of shrimplets (many will die of various causes before you even get to see them), getting the nicest fire reds is even more rare... hence their higher prices.

How is the Ehiem Liberty performing? What size are you using?
I am deliberating between the medium and the largest for my 40cm tank....

What media are you using? So you still using the original cartridges?
