Please tell me if you guys can't see the photo, cause I can't.
So, it is currently my holiday and I am totally amazed by some of the fish tank posted in this forum so I am trying it out myself!
So after planning with my girlfriend on how the layout should be, we went to C328 to get some rocks, plants and a background!
WHITE OR LIGHT BLUE...HMMMMMM
After soaking the wood with boiling water, I tied it with spiky moss that I got from a guy in this forum, cutting out cardboard and placing it in the tank as divider, it's time to start work!
I don't know what aqua soil is this but its dark brown with Sudo sand in the middle.
While I was scaping, I suddenly felt very attracted to the moss tree for some reason... Fingers cross it would look bushy and green!
Iwagumi is about rock scaping! Can't do without any rocks right?!
1st layout
2nd, not much difference though.
Time to plant the plants! Plant choice would be HC and hair grass!
If you are wondering what is that wooden thing at the side, it is disposable chopsticks to act as my tweezers. LOLToo expensive to get one! Oh, talking about being cheap, I used my younger brother's painting brush as a tool to smooth out the soil. HAHA!
Supreme chopstick master at work! Sushi anyone?
After a total of 4 hours of work to boil and hacking off excessive strands of bogwood, cutting up plants, tying moss and placing stones, I took roughly 3 hours. Not too bad right! Here is the photo of the scape!
DAY 1
At the end of the day, I haven't decide whether to place the white background. suggestions anyone?
I enjoy some nice suggestions and feedbacks!![]()

What tank for lazy man?
Is there anything I could do to make the pictures work? =(
Thanks man! Appreciate!
Is this going to be a low-tech tank without CO2 injection?
where did you get your awesome tree driftwood?
Nice tank! Please keep us updated.
I tried hC before too... But it melted...

Yeah! it is low tech tank! no CO2.
really ah! If mine melt ah, I'm gonna cry eh! I search online they said it doesn't need CO2 and medium lighting! Using 18W for for about 12 litre tank, should be enough right?
Well, I bought bigger rocks, but I feel the main attraction is the tree itself, so I don't want it to be too big!
As for where I get the wood, I got it at c328! With some chopping and sawing off some parts!
Interesting indeed. After forumer Urban Aquaria, I think you are the second one who is planting HC without CO2. Please do update and keep everyone update. I'll be very keen to try if there're lots of successfully accounts.
haha... do updates us your tree.
Note that my HC carpet is maintained without Co2 injection only after 6 weeks of DSM... so its abit different in process.
Do keep us updated on your tank's progress... i'm actually also keen to see if fresh emersed HC from LFS can be planted directly into a non-Co2 injection flooded tank from the start and recover from the transition enough to grow well too. Will be bookmarking this thread!![]()
May be u r the lucky one, Hc can survive. Good luck n happy planting.
I am sorry to be a wet blanket. Where did you read that HC does not need CO2?

In my opinion, Urban bro manage to pull it off because he took a systematic approach to it and a understanding in plants need. It is luckily you did not tear the HC into even smaller bits as the plants may not have enough plant mass to recover/transit back. I have learn it the hard way.
I wish you luck nevertheless! Welcome to the HC family.

Well, i believe with the right light intensity and controlled photoperiod, its still possible for HC to establish roots and spread using the limited Co2 and nutrients naturally present in a balanced tank (it'll be very slow but its possible).
The most crucial stage is the initial transition phase, it just needs enough plants mass to establish in time before too much of them die during the transition, and before shrimps pull them all out bit by bit... so its best not to add shrimps until the HC establish strong roots!![]()
