Yeah, its quote normal... other plants often hitchhike on plants that you buy from LFS (or the LFS mis-label the plants, especially those that resemble each other).
Excel usually costs around $11-$14 for a 250ml bottle (depending on the LFS)... if you follow the instructions of initial 5ml dose for 40L and then 1ml daily dose for a 40L tank, one 250ml bottle should last around 7-8 months.
The additional benefit of Excel is that it is commonly used as a spot treatment against various types of algae. Regular dosing also helps keep algae manageable too.

Thanks guys! My HC seems to be dying!Sigh.. I might try DSM.. But I'll use Mini Fissiden for DSM..
I took out the HC and just started with my DSM for mini fissiden! Thing is, if the fissiden is roughly 0.5-1cm, would it be okay?
With your mention of U1 and outliers makes me assume you are of engineering background![]()
the u1 looks like bxyla japonica to me. its a nice plant. just resemble wider leave hairgrass. wait till it matures fully. resemble a freshwater coral!![]()
Yeah, I agree, I'm quite curious in finding out how it would look like when it matures. So I'm not pulling the plant out just yet!
Anyway guys, do you guys know anyone that is selling 1 feet LED light? Please be cheap cause I'm going for low budget ah...
Well, during the 1 week of the DSM period for my mini fissiden, I bought a new filter, Gex slim filter size M and aqua zonic super slim LED light. 10k kelvin with 3 blue lights.
So, during the DSM, I realised my hair grass has grown more, however those long leaves died. Does any one know why the longer strands die while they continue to grow further away from the main branch?
On top of that, the mini Fissiden is a success! None of them float up during the flooding! Woohoo!
here some pictures!
I love the ripple effect! Sadly it can't be captured by my phone, oh well!
BTW, at C328, I ask the uncle if aquazonic superslim LED G2 is good for plants, he said no use and reccomend me to get a higher end one of like 50+ dollars.. However I read the description on the box for aquazonic, it said its good for plants.. I'm wondering if the uncle was trying to earn more money from me by asking me to get the 50+ dollars one... Guys, is aquazonic sufficient?
I've used that clip-on aquazonic LED lights before a while back (it came free with those "starter" tank sets) and i found them only okay for viewing fishes or maybe for low-light plants like anubias or mosses. The one i had eventually broke after a few weeks at the flexible neck, the metal tends to get corroded easily, so have to be careful when adjusting it.
Maybe you should get the Up Aqua Z-Series LED lights instead, its the best so far at its price range that i've found to successfully grow most of the aquarium plants.![]()
Dang it! You just made my hand itch to get 1 of those! However, I don't think i have space to put the LED aqua z thing.. Cause my Gex slim filter is at the side.. Plus, $58 dollars is rather pricy to me unless there is some one selling second hand at a cheap price!
Oh yes, one more thing, is aquazonic super slim enough for spiky moss, hair grass and mini fissiden?
I'll see how things go.. I think if I'm getting another light, I need to get a clip on type due to space constraint.. Any to suggest Urban Aquaria?
Am i the only one who can't view the latest pictures from Ahxren?
I can't see too..
Oh man.. Always photobuckets problem.. Which web do you guys usually upload to?
I'll look out for it. Thanks for the tip man!
It is not photobuckets problem, you need to click "IMG code" on the left hand side of the photobuckets and paste it here. Example below
