Thanks shadow! =D

Well, during the 1 week of the DSM period for my mini fissiden, I bought a new filter, Gex slim filter size M and aqua zonic super slim LED light. 10k kelvin with 3 blue lights.

So, during the DSM, I realised my hair grass has grown more, however those long leaves died. Does any one know why the longer strands die while they continue to grow further away from the main branch?
On top of that, the mini Fissiden is a success! None of them float up during the flooding! Woohoo!

here some pictures!

I love the ripple effect! Sadly it can't be captured by my phone, oh well!
BTW, at C328, I ask the uncle if aquazonic superslim LED G2 is good for plants, he said no use and reccomend me to get a higher end one of like 50+ dollars.. However I read the description on the box for aquazonic, it said its good for plants.. I'm wondering if the uncle was trying to earn more money from me by asking me to get the 50+ dollars one... Guys, is aquazonic sufficient?

Thanks shadow! =D

If the recommendation is for the EVO clip on, I'll surely think that's very sound advice.

How about Aqua zonic super bright LED?

Good for moss, anubias, ferns. In a nut shell, no problem for low-light demanding plants. I'll opt for the EVO for growing a wider range of plants.

Well, thing is. I only have fissiden, spiky moss and hair grass in my tank.. Don't plan to keep other plants..

Guys, I recently added fire red shrimps into my tank. After a few days, I realise my tank start to smell a little like freshwater prawns or maybe a little fishy. Can some experts help me?!
A fishy smell from tank water is usually an indication that the bacteria in the tank is still not able to cope with converting the waste materials, so there is excess waste still in the water, this usually occurs when the tank is still cycling.
If one were to stand over a tank and take a sniff, a fully cycled tank with balanced bio-load should not have any noticeable fishy smell, it should be relatively odorless.
Maybe do a few more small water changes over the week and see if there is still the smell after the tank is fully cycled.

i agree with urban, most probably the tank has not been cycled enough thats why you have the fishy smell which comes from ammonia
the other explanation is that your filter cannot cope with the bio load which is unlikely. i would suggest you remove your shrimps from the tank as they are quite sensitive any my die from the ammonia spike

Alright, thanks guys! Well, it's not really a fishy smell. It is more like a freshwater prawn smell.. Unless that include that smell too..
I believed they are the same. Wait for the beneficial bacteria to grow and manage the increased bio load. The smell should be gone. A matured tank will handle it fast. As shrimp are sensitive, casuality is likely for new tank transition to handle the bioload.
