Ecco priming built-in to the handle, bad design, broke the latch before.
202x newer version of the 222x with priming bult-in on the motor housing.
222x no priming.

A lot of ppl seem to have problems operating the Ecco, but I have 2 and one of them I've been using for close to 3 yrs now. Works fine, no breakages. Another friend has one, and no breakages either.
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.

I am using a 2231 for almost a year now without problem.
Everytime I disconnect the hoses to clean the filter (after locking the inlet/outlet valves), water always flow back from the inlet/outlet hose and wet the cabinet ;-( Did I do something wrong or is this to be expected ??

I assume you mean from the valves connected to the hoses.
How much water? If it's a little bit, then it's normal. But if the tank is emptying itself into your cabinet, check that the valves are closing properly. When closed, the valve taps should be at perpedicular to the direction of flow. If you look into the valves, it should be completely closed.
There will always be some water trapped in the space between the valves and filter when you close them. To prevent wetting, I hold a rag under the valve when I detach them, or use the rag to detach the valve.

Just a little but it is still messy. Putting a rag under the valve while disconnecting the hose is a good idea ! Will do that the next time I clean my filter.
Thanks!

I was deciding on 2213 and 2231, volume wise 2213 is bigger than 2231 the only advantage is built-in priming. So I went for 2213. Cost wise even with the installer it would make 2213 easy to prime.
To help me prime, I have connected Tom Dive 85II to the inlet of the 2213 and that it very useful with keeping the cannister clean.

I have a Ecco 2235 since 2000. Still using but the priming function doesn't work anymore.

Juggler's tanks

i find the priming handle alittle too fragile. Broke my 2233 when priming, they should consider replacing the plastic pin with a metal pin (thats where mine broke)

Not sure if Eheim has improved them. I saw Ecco models 2232, 2234, 2236 at last year's Aquarama.

One more question on filter.
In the filter specification sheet , there is pump output and filter circulation. Which number is the flow rate which is usually referred to when selecting a filter ?

Pump output is the flow rate without media.
Filter circulation is the flow rate with media installed. This is the one you should be most concerned about.
