generally, the filter flowrate should be about 3x your tank size.
so for 20 gal tank, the filter flowrate should be in the region of 60 gal/hr.
the filter should have multiple baskets for various types of filter media.

Hi everyone...need your advise lah.
I can't seem to find the info actually.![]()
Anyway, I'd like to know what's the general rule/guide that we should observe when buying a filter. You know...the 120g/hour (for eg) cycling and such....?
I asked this cos I have an unused 20-gallon tank that I intend to use as a planted tank set-up. It would not be densely planted whereas the fish bioload would be minimal.
All advise are appreciated. Thanx![]()
