CO2 glass difuser and DIY CO2

I like to know if I can connect a CO2 diffuser (glass cost $10 at Clementi) with a DIY yeast CO2 bottle. I connected a silicon tube to the diffuser and tried to blow some air out but I couldn't get any air to flow out. Am I only suppose to connect it to a pressurized CO2 tank?? Will a DIY CO2 have enough pressure to push through the diffuser (I don't want to build too much pressure on the bottle and cause it to blow up).

hello ikan, you need quite a lot of pressure to get it out of the diffusor, the holes are microscopic leh... cannot compare with airstone.

however, you can use a DIY CO2 on a diffusor (I even used one with the spiral bubble counter, even higher pressure), but make sure your bottle and tubing can tahan lah. I used to buy the JBL CO2 bottle, after it is consumed just add sugar, baking soda and yeast, and reuse the bottle.

ikan, the pressure was so high that it caused my bottle to distent out of shape, and the base became rounded so the bottle topples over, had to DIY a bottle holder. Becareful.

That much pressure.This can make the bottle to explode!!! Maybe I should use airstone ?

if you want better efficiency, use a reactor.
airstone will waste more co2.

How much it cost for a reactor? I don't want anything fancy, I am just experimenting. Can I DIY a reactor? More importantly I don't want the bottle to explode.

I had also try connecting a CO2 diffuser to my DIY CO2. No problem for me without too much pressure built up.

I think should not have too much problem.

think it is up brand.
available at c328 also.

if you want to diy, you can use empty fish food container.
drill 2 holes the size of filter outlet pipe.
one hole near top of container for connector to filter outlet.
one hole near bottom for outlet.
drill another small hole, the size to fit co2 line.
this hole at the top.
drop 1-2 bioballs.
viola, you're done.

minimal pressure buildup with reactor.

Err .. what's the purpose of dropping the bioballs for?
Tought it was used mainly for cultivating the benfecial bacteria?

helps to break up co2 bubble.
you can do without it.
