Hello guys, this is my first time setting up a low tech shrimp tank, hoping to keep some beautiful painted-red cherrie shrimp. Previously, i am used to keeping the cichlids and catfishes families, so not really suitable to have a planted tank. But recently got poison by the aquascapers and shrimps keepers, which ended up getting myself a mini-tank and sold all my foot-long tanks.
After gathering some knowledge and infos onlline, as well as from the shopmaster ronnie from GreenChapter, i decided to give myself a chance to try out a planted tank & design a tank for my future inhibitants. Most of the plants i used are very low demanding as i not intending to use any CO2 supply. Led light is used as a low energy source for 6-hours per day. Only a fan is used to cool down the temperature, no chiller.
Utimately what i want to achieve is to have my plants growing greener and not dying off or turning brown. Obtain a optimal breeding condition for my future shrimps.
Questions:
-What small fishes can i keep with the cherries shrimp if i want to breed them?
-What snail is good to maintain a planted tank and at the same time works perfectly with the shrimps without eating their shrimplets? And also no populating too fast causing crowding.
-Should i add more soil? I intend to cover the top with shrimp soil from GC, as i felt the soil is not enough for some of the top plants.
-Will the marsilea grow into a carpet under such condition? Should i plant them even deeper into the soil?
Sorry for the pictures is abit blur, will upload better one when i get back my DSLR. =)
