    Hi guys...

I have been running my tank since January. The front part of the tank is a lawn of APP which is growing very well, until 2 days ago. I noticed that a few leaves in the middle of the lawn turned dark brown, and semi-transparent. Yesterday it spread to the neighbouring leaves, and tonight it has spread even more!

I don't have any pics to show you guys but maybe someone has experienced this before? My tank parameters are listed below.

    Beginners Info Sheet

No. of Hours your light is on: 10.5hrs

    Carbonate Hardness (kh): 4.0dkH
    Total Hardness (gH):
    PH : 6,8
    NH4 (ppm):
    NO2 (ppm):

    Bioload (Your Fish and Plants)
    ------------------------------

40 Cardinals, 6 Checker Barbs, 2 Sparkling Gourami, 2 spotted Corys, 10 Lemon tetras, 10 green/orange algae eaters, 6 SAEs, 20+ assorted shrimps.

Echinodorus Ozelot, Tenellus, Quadricostatus, Oriental, Corkscrew Vallis, Java fern, Java Moss, Elatine Triandra (APP), Riccia on driftwood, 4-colour Lotus, and a lil bit of algae!

Also, I'm looking for replacement plants to grow on my 1.5ft centerpiece driftwood. The riccia tied to it (with cloth mesh) is too troublesome (replanted 2 times already) and I am not keen on growing moss on the DW. Any suggestions? If I have a suitable plant to replace the Riccia I will gladly give away the Riccia for free to anyone.

    Thanks and regards,

    NAZIR

APP loves N and I notice you do not dose any. You might wann try nosing some KNO3.

If i'm supposed to give it a dose of KNO3, then how come it's been growing fine since Jan?

Do you think this *decay* will spread to the rest of the APP?

app needs quite a lot of n.
    so try dosing some kno3.
when your tank was just setup, some fertiliser will leach into the water column. your plants have not settle in yet so they consume less nutrients. now, a few months down the road, your plants have settled in and growing. so they will consume more nutrients.

try dosing kno3 soon to arrest the spread.
