You have a very nice driftwood? Where did you find it? Your scape looks nice but it think there is too much (if i am not wrong) java ferns on the tree. Must "show off" your tree or else it is a waste! Haha![]()

Nice, the wood look like combination of couples of wood

Got most of my wood from Seaview, as mentioned by Shadow, the main tree is actually a few pieces of wood cable tied together. Foliage on the tree consists of Tridents and Bolbitis. Not getting the dense look that I am looking for, will probably add some narrow leaf java fern to fill up the gaps. A fuller crown will probably take some time I guess.
Bolbtis not doing so well, turning dark at the edges, any idea if it generally prefers harder water? My water temperature is around 26-27, ph 5.5, kh 2-3, CO2 checker is greenish to yellow and lighting is photoperiod of 7hrs (65 % maxspect 160W).
Intensity rather low. Try 70 and duration a bit too short at 7 hours try 9.

I really like your driftwood. If you ever want to let go if it one day, can I reserve it from you first?

Lol....sure dude but my tank is only 2.5 weeks old, you would probably have to wait awhile ya...
Actually just go find a few pieces from Seaview and tie them together, I'm sure you can construct one as 'exotic'...![]()

As expected, having my first brush with the inevitable nemesis, at least it was inevitable for me...ALGAE...
Had hair/thread algae growing all over my fissidens and hairgrass.

But what I didn't expect was how easy it was to just scrub most of it off but I will bet to my last dollar that it will be back...hopefully not too soon though...

Uncle....a tad too much light at 70% and or your PMDD thingy is way too much too early.
Some fast growing stemmed plants will be a good idea.

Lol...ok I will probably cut down on my potassium and traces to perhaps just 5ml but I'm reluctant to tune down to 60% as today evidently I'm not getting any bubbling from my HCs at all.
Don't really like stemmed plants, will skip them but I have introduced frogbits to hopefully do some siphoning of the excessive ammonia.
TIM (is now your official nick) hahaha....do at 65% and work your way up.
The stemmed plants is just for the initial phase for your tank to establish itself and you can decide later on to remove or not.
Looking at your tank, Indica or Macarandra or both will look good in your tank scape.
5ml everyday? I dose my tank only 10ml for the whole week with 330liter of water uncle....![]()

haha TIM sounds good....yup 5ml everyday....I don't know man, I just follow what the guys at "The Green Machine" are doing with ADA's products and improvise with Seachem's.
Ya i know what you mean by removing the stemmed plants later but i don't like the idea of having to uproot them. My background will consist only of pinnatifidas but it's taking forever to grow.
Ok i will try with 65% and see how it goes![]()

I might be wrong but the label on Seachem's bottle reads 5ml raises potassium levels by 2ppm for 125L. So even if i dose 10ml 6days a week, i will only bring my total level to 24ppm which i will then restart on my 7th day with a 50% water change. So at 24ppm it is still within acceptable levels unless i got it all wrong?
In any case I am also trying to flush away my Seachem's products asap so that i can switch to EI. Cheaper for the long term...
24 ppm potassium per week for EI should be normal.
I dosed roughly 25 - 30 ppm, in total per week.
But with seachem in order to dose this level It might costly.

I haven't had any frogbits sucked into the skimmer yet, they are probably too big for the slot that draws water in anyway. So far it has performed a fantastic job in keeping my water surface crystal clear and provides additional water circulation as well.
I got the ADA replica from ANS, the only difference is that the replica has only one metal disc instead of two. The metal disc is responsible for holding the media together inside the skimmer. Function wise I can't really compare whether the replica matches up to ADA as I have never tried ADA's skimmer but all I can say is the replica has definitely met my expectations at less than half the price. Looks wise they look exactly the same, so unless you are really anal about getting the real deal and must have ADA inscribed on your skimmer, I say just go for the replica.
