Nice, and simple. Did your downoi spread or you bought a handful to maximize the tank?

my downoi is melting and i'm planning to take it out and replace with more HC , which seems to be carpeting and doing well so far (I pray).

As long you do not push the downoi straight into the soil you are ok, just let the roots touch the soil. Lesser chances of melting.

As long the leaves do not touch the soil you are more or less ok, I kept them before this is what i observed. Hk fish shops are also doing this and their downoi are doing very well.

yup maybe i'll just leave in my downoi for a few more weeks and see how it goes. I hope my HC doesn't melt as well.

To minimize melting when still converting to submerge pump more co2. If you have cool water temperature it helps too.

yup I bought a Dymax clip on mini fan and my tank is in air con room so i suppose the temp should be around 25-26 degrees. Maybe I should buy a thermometer to be sure. My CO2 is abt 4 bubbles per second now and the diffused CO2 looks like it's flooding the whole tank. Luckily I still do not have any fauna inside if not i'm sure they wun survive lol.

As mention by FrozenDuck, do take note not to use SMS lingo, it's part of AQ's rules.

Do spend a couple I dollars for a thermometer. Usually tanks in aircon room do not need fan as the evaporation rate is already fast enough and it's already cold. (unless your aircon is at 28 deg)

4 bubbles might be abit if overkill, but it depends on the diffuser as well. Those atomizers make co2 diffusion much more efficient, and perhaps when using that in the long run, you'll save a lot of co2, which mean lesser top ups.

You can consider getting a drop checker if you're unsure how much co2 to inject when the shrimps are in. It's essential to get a balance when there's both flora and fauna to prevent algae breakout as well as co2 poisoning of fauna.

Hi guys really sorry for the mistake, will take note of it.
I have taken out my downoi plant and replaced it with more HC as I have decided to keep it simple and plain. I have also bought Ocean free Root Stick to supplement the HC.
I'm also using 3 drops of daily fertilizer from Dennerle.

No update pictures yet because it still looks the pretty much same. I'll upload it once The HC carpets well. My CO2 ran out today and I went over to yishun 618 for refill and it will only be ready for collection 2 days later. Can I ask any experts out there what will happen to HC without co2 for 3 days? Will it melt?

There shouldn't be too much melting if the HC roots are already well established, most likely you'll just see the growth stall abit.

It would be a good idea to reduce your light photoperiod or intensity accordingly during this period though, as the sudden drop in CO2 levels will now become a limiting factor and the plants have to adapt to it.

If the photoperiod or light intensity is still kept the same without the required CO2 levels to keep in balance, algae might start to take advantage of it.
