I've had my bottom feeder Dojo fish for about six months now, he reached about 5 inches. He's always been healthy and active, well, as active as a Dojo is expected to be, which is limited. He always liked to hide in the plants and decor the majority of the time, but he would actively scour the tank bottom for food when it was feeding time.
About my tank, it is 65 gallons and moderately to heavily planted with a variety of live plants. I have a few decor pieces to provide extra hiding spaces. Gravel bottom, a carbon filter, heater, and a bubbler. I had a nasty case of ich a few months ago in a smaller tank, but that has been cleared up and we haven't had any health problems with the fish since.
My fish: I must admit, I've been switching over to more semi-aggressive fish. I currently have two female bettas, three mollys, three glo-fish danios, one giant danio, two angelfish, an albino rainbow shark, a catfish(not sure what type, but he sure was expensive!), a pleco, an albino cory, a clown loach, and a banded leporinus.
The catfish, leporinus(very small right now), and the two angel fish are the newest of the bunch. They have been added throughout the past two weeks.
This morning, I discovered my beloved Dojo floating at the top, bits of him nipped off. I was told by the fish store that even the aggressive fish tend to leave the bottom dwellers well alone, and since the Dojo I'd almost always out of sight, I wasn't too worried.
Do you think my new semi-aggressive fish went after him? Any thoughts? TIA!
