    Hi,

    Here's a difficult question:
when you're going on a 2 weeks to a month vacation, who is taking care of your fishes? Or did you manage to automate it to a certain extend? No family members. Or is there a fish hotel?

    1) Feeding
    2) Changing Filter

For feeding, it is possible to purchase the automated dispenser, could someone advise a brand for dispensing for a month?

Changing the filter.....unless to get the external box filter, which maybe can last for a month, I couldn't think of any other ideas.....

    Please advise.......

The last time my family went for vacation, we got our friend to feed the fishes twice a week. Make sure you pack each portion separately so that they don't over feed the fishes!

As for filter, you should not need to worry about it. For small filter (Eden 316), I change the filter wool once every 4~6 weeks while for Canister filter, every 3~4 months.

eden 316 => 3-4 weeks? i'm using the dolphine filter, and i'm changing every 2-3 days.........i think i feed them too much, and they have alot of waste.............sigh..............

was thinking of getting a Canister filter for my 2 feet, would it be too much?~

which canister filter is good? i think the most common one is the jebao one, costing from $60 onwards.........

You have too many fishes in your tank ! I think 50 is probably the limit for a 2 feet think. 30~40 would be ideal.

Your bioload is too high ! You should consider investing in a good filter. This is one piece of equipment which you should invest in.

I am using an Eheim 2231 for my 2ft and Eden 316 for 16". Suggest you post this question in the equipment section.

thanks! i am really started to think that my bioload is too high, changing filter every 2-4 days is really quite the limit........
