Hi, guess first time posting...just want to share my 1 feet tank.

Like many hobbyist, went through the initial stages of doing too many too fast...with no experience. along the way tried CO2, chiller and stuff but did not work out as i find that it is too technical for me.

I just wanted a basic tank where i can keep some shrimps, plants for enjoyment and not go thru the entire hassles to technical junk.

Well through experience and trial and error. im happy to be at the stage where im at.

I dont' monitor PH and stuff, the only thing i put a little more effort into was the substrate and laying of foundation.

The current tank consists of following 2 x oto, 5 x tetras, variety of rili, sakura, cherry, orange, yellow, blue rili and ghost?

Used to have some CRS and were doing well during the wet months but since starting of this year as the weather started to get hot, they RIP-ed.

    Few pictures to share

Nice tank, has a very tranquil feel to it. Your lava rock gave me the impression of Ayer's Rock in Australia.

However, your blue rili, sakura, cherry, yellow and possibly orange (depending on whether you got caridina propinqua or orange form of neocaridina heteropoda) will interbreed and produce the wild form of neocaridina heteropoda.

You can also cover the filter inlet with a sponge to prevent shrimplets from being sucked into the filter.

Unless you get a chiller, keeping CRS is very tough in our climate, not to mention that the CRS will be facing a lot of stress.

Very nicely done HM carpet. How did you get them to creep so nicely?

Thanks you for the kind words.

@lucas - had chiller and co2 in the past, but found it too hassle on space and housekeeping.

@cherabin - HM? What's that? I thought it was glosso I'm keeping? I bought a small pot of them at clementi 328 and broke them up into smaller patches. Over time it just spread...the tanks is about 3 months old.

Isn't glosso. 3 nodes characteristic seems to point to HM. Any feedback to what plant this is, anyone?

It look to me like Hemianthus micranthemoides in short HM. Glossostigma elatinoides has round leaves
where HM has long leaves. The pics that you post have long leaves, maybe you cant post another shot of the plants but
    i strongly believed its HM
