Plants that fail you.....and why?

It's doubtful your Gloss failed due to low light, I've grown it in several tanks at 1.5 w/gal..............yes, it grew well.
Slower than at 4w/gal, but it grew well and nice.

Hello Tom...

I was sure poor lightings were the reason my glosso grew like beanstalks.

I then increased the lightings and the effect was almost immediate. The glosso grew so thick in not time that eventually, I lost control maintaining them!

After that 'sudden success', I then switched to 'Elatine Triandra' foreground and the plant didn't fail me the first time, like glosso did.

I had no real success with my most loved species: Anubias graciles and Crinum calamistratum. I tried both species twice in the past in my tank (1p/gallon, liquid feriliser, no base feriliser, 25°C, 18dGH, 16dKH, ph 7,5, no artificial CO2) but the Anubias died after about 4 months or less and the Crinum died after about 5 / 9 months. Damn, these plants are expansive (about 10€ each) and rare here, so I can't buy a new one everytime.
I heard the Crinum needs cold water, so my 25°C could be too much. Now I try 23°C and so far so good but I have the plant only for some weeks now. Any idea about the A. graciles? Is it possible to grow it for a longer time in the aquarium? Should I use extra CO2? The Anubias grows very slowly, so it should not make any difference but what about the C. calamistratum?
