Hi, how long would a tank with 6000 psi of pressurised CO2 last? My CO2 system is currently releasing CO2 at approximately 2 bps, via a electric solenoid valve.

As I'll be away from home for a long while, soon. I need to make quick decisions on whether to turn the CO2 off or leave it on till I come back, maybe one month from now.

Any dangers, if the CO2 tank is empty? I do have 2 check valves installed to prevent backflow.

Tried searching for info on this forum, but got an error, instead.

Please double check. The pressure can never be 6000psi!

Even if the pressure is correctly stated you still need to provide the tank size for anyone to provide estimate right?

    More details

Sorry, its a 5 litre cylindrical tank. I was in a hurry to leave for work today. It could be 600 psi.

I am sure that the needle was on the sixth marking, before I rushed out of the house.

    Thanks for helping

i doubt your co2 will last you for another month. maybe 2 weeks.
there is no danger in having an empty, in fact very safe.
since you have check valve to prevent backflow from reaching you regulator/solenoid, have no worries.
however, if you have time, why not refill the co2.

the CO2 gas is pressurised at 1000 psi when "full" and it is in a liquid state. as you use the gas the liquified portion of the gas "evaporate" to maintain the 1000psi pressure. when your pressure starts falling below 1000psi it means you have no more or little liquified CO2 left and hence the pressure will drop quite rapidly to atmospheric pressure.

did I get the story right?

in fact a 6000 psi tank will last only shortly, as it will very quickly explode!

    Hi Bro,

    It should be 600psi not 6000 .

Anyway, topping up is highly recommended if you are going away......unless you want to deprive your plants of co2........

It will drop as fast as you never imaging before. It could drop 150 psi in just 1 week when it hit 500psi........

No harm topping it up before you leave........
    Cheers

    Its 600 psi

Thank you all, for your valuable inputs. To set the record straight, it is 600psi, yes, this time I checked.

My only fear was the danger of an empty CO2 tank. I am prepared to let my tank be deprived of CO2.

If I had time in the first place, I would have filled it, alas, time is not on my side.

Once again, thanks for your views and suggestion. Appreciate it bros.
