Difficult yo ID if most of the plant hiding behind rock. my guess the tall plant is Potamogeton gayi and the red plant luwidgia sp

Hi guys,
This would be my first post for the new layout for my nano tank. Changed due to the wood making cleaning such a hassle and algae was running rampant. Plus the lack of different types of plants made it a bit boring to look at after a while.
Overall pretty satisfied with the final layout but comments welcomed so I can hopefully improve for future builds.
Here are the specs of my tank
Tank Size: 30cm Opti-clear
Lights: Up-aqua Z series 36cm
Filtration: Eheim 2213 with Gush inlet & outlet pipes
CO2: Pressurised with ceramic diffuser placed under the outlet pipe
Cooling: Dymax fan(able to hit 25-27deg according to my thermometer)
Fertilisation Regime: EI, 3 days[CA(NO3)2, KH2PO4,K2SO4)], 2 days LushGro Micro
Soil: ADA Amazonia New
Hardscape: Dragon rocks from my 2ft tank
Plants: Glosso, Christmas Moss, Cryptocoryne parva, Dwarf hair grass, Nymphacea zenkeri? and 2 unidentified plants(hoping you guys would know)
Livestock: For now none but planning maybe Boraras brigittae merah and either my current batch of sakuras or buy a batch of CRS.
Didn't take alot of photos so here are the ones I did take

Testing the layout of the stones

Final layout confirmed
Now, can't seem to identify the red stem plant near the middle and the taller plant by the inlet. Hoping fellow forumers could help with this.
And as before, all comments on how I could improve for future builds are welcome.
Kindest Regards,
Ali

Looks abt right.thanks shadow

UPDATE!
FTS Day 4
All plants growing well. Just did a 50% WC as per EI protocol.
1. Zenkeri lost 3 leaves but those weren't receiving any light anyways. But sprouted 1 new leaf.
2. Glosso growing tall. Wondering if I should trim it during my next WC. Any suggestions? If not I'll probably trim it in 2 weeks depending on vertical growth.
3. DHG all green and healthy, with only a few dead stalks.
4. No change in Parva or ludwigia.
5. Christmas moss no change but at least it isn't dying as with all my previous experience with mosses.
6. So far no visible algae, but still keeping my fingers crossed.
7. CO2, about 1-2bps
8. Added 2 horned nerite snails and a betta after the water change.

your glasso is growing upwards? is that because there is not enough light?

possibly.the up aqua z is only 0.01w per LED...
but also read tht glosso needs training to creep.... so I'll try trimming it a few times before i opt to change lights
-=I work in the dark to serve the light=-

Some forums tht i've been thru says tht sometime you need to trim a few times first vefore they start creeping.but thn again this.is my firsy yime with glosso.

How much did you pay for the 30cm opti white tank?
It looks so clear!
Do they have it at Seaview?
I have got a good feeling that he got them from GC.
Need something to scratch that itchy hand of mine.
Don't act smart. Be smart!

mincedmeat: aha!that's where you're wrong my friend..I actually got it from East Ocean
cookiez: as above, and it didn't cost an arm an a leg.
Anyways, it's been a while and i guess it's time for an update. Will upload pictures when I get home tonight.
Glosso actually doing quite good. Growth isn't as horizontal as I would like but more so than when initially planted.
Hairgrass not doing so well, the plantlets near the back have browned.
Now for the kicker, getting a diatom bloom and thread algae (I think, as they appear as white silk-like strands on the leaves) on my glosso and hairgrass to the point where it's killing off the glosso in the front of the tank.
This happened pretty slowly and wasn't much of an issue as it only affected a few leaves which were removed.
As of yesterday, I cut the photoperiod to 6 hours with further removal of the affected patches(which weren't big to begin with) and doing water change tonight. Will see if this would alleviate the situation.
If not, then I'm going to try the One-Two Punch method described on plantedtank.net.
Also thought that my lights may have been insufficient as my red plant is sprouting green leaves, and my glosso started dying. This was before the thread algae and diatoms became prevalent. So in a moment of weakness, I bought the Green Element Evo 3W LED lightset (Plant White). So I'll be keeping an eye out to see how it performs. One thing I can say for sure, it runs quite a fair bit hotter than the UP aqua Z-series LEDs but that was expected as the LEDs used are of a higher wattage.
With regards to the CO2, with the manual regulator, it's been a hassle trying to adjust the knob just right to get 1bps. Even after attaining the bps, it'll drift during the course of the day and when I get home it could have been up to 3-4bps. Planning to get a needle valve, or even a metering valve + solenoid if the price is right. Any opinions? Should I just get a completely new automatic regulator combo or just build up from what I have?
Also wondering where I could get parts to build my own regulator? Would bioplast be a good option?
Thanks for reading, pictures will be up tonite

Update, 19.05.2013
As previously posted, albeit later than originally promised, here are the latest updates to my Nano
First up, need help with the plant circled in red, came with red leaves but has steadily gotten green. If anyone could help ID this plant it would go a long way towards me being able to provide the correct conditions to maintain the redness of it.

Glosso and DHG not doing too well, glosso being over run by diatoms and hair algae, DHG mainly hair algae, and patches of the glosso are rapidly dying off. In response, I decided to raise my lights, cut the photoperiod to 6 hours and carry out the One-Two Punch.

After:

Together with the above changes, I also bought an Up Aqua regulator from Seaview. Reasonably priced in my opinion and has an adjustable working pressure(max is 60 psi but set to 30 psi initially)
Comes with 2 allen keys for you to increase working pressure by turning it clockwise. A word of caution though, adjust in small increments to ensure it doesn't blow out, but it does come with a blow out valve so you don't destroy your working pressure gauge(please correct me if I'm wrong).
It's the A-164

Regulator in Action with Inline Atomizer
[IMG][/IMG]
The inline atomizer I got from qngwn was the Up Aqua one with twin diffusers. Decided to take out the larger tube so the outflow floods the main chamber. Information on the package states that it requires at least 36 psi to function so I set the working pressure to near 40 psi. I used plumbing tape on the atomizer to increase the seal as it was leaking before at higher when water floods the chamber. Even near 40 psi it requires some time for the CO2 to start diffusing through so I opened up the needle valve till I see bubbles before turning it back down to 1bps. Even then I am getting a light green on my drop checker(4 dKH solution obtained from zerofighterx101, thanks man).
Finally the FTS.
Glosso now free of diatoms and hair algae. It's growing tall and I've yet to trim it. I'll probably let it recover some before I start trimming again.

how come the tank look yellowish? is it from the rocks?

fireblade.gd qn....i didn't even notice it until u pointed it out. May be because of the light i suppose.
In person it's white
-=I work in the dark to serve the light=-

yellowish cos of the auto white balance.. hope you're liking the items you got from me
see alot of effort put into your nano.
Maybe when you take pics, you could remove the drop checker, or put it to the side of the tank.. seems abit distracting in the background.. spoiling your nice scape bro.

Ammannia gracilis - is a fast vertical grower and not suited for nano

ahh,thanks wong. Finally I know.
It's fine for now but I will keep your advice in mind. Once it grows out it can be used for my 2ft which is currently in the works..
