2 months of intense 'cleansing' after an insecticide contamination, the tank is finally safe for inhabitants. I replaced all my filter media with activated carbon as well as adding an additional filter with only activated carbon and did 24 rounds of water changes. Moral of the story: wash your plants and quarantine them for at least a week.
