Chloramine can decompose to form aqueous chlorine and ammonia I think.

Hi all, I am new in this hobby of keeping CRS.
I recently realized that my aged water for about 2-3 days contained small trace of ammonia.
I am using Prime / Shizhen to age water without air bubble.
Does this happen to yours and if so, how to get rid?
Thanks in advance.![]()
Chloramine can decompose to form aqueous chlorine and ammonia I think.
Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, teach a man to fish and he will drink beer while getting sunburnt.
You'll also find some nitrate in the water, which is also normal. Short of using RO/DI filters, you cannot remove the ammonia, but Prime should be able to lock it into an inert form since you're using that

Your shrimps died after you water change is not mainly due to the ammonia in the age water.
It might be cause by the change of PH
Did you do large amount of water change?
